Book Buddies: Splash!

Book Buddies have been created to help teachers make the most of the books they read aloud to their classes. Each book in the series has been selected for the quality of its writing, illustration and ability to provoke thought and discussion.

Splash! is a biographical book about Paralympian Claire Cash. Claire has a physical disability. It is never the focus in this book, which instead guides the reader through how Claire overcame her fear of water instead. It is a delightful and engaging books for engaging children in discussions about fears and was a real hit with our focus group of teachers.

In this pack you will find prompts to support vocabulary learning, overcoming fears resources, work on identifying themes, links to art and geography, and written comprehension questions. We have also provided detailed reading notes to help you get the most from this book.
