Vocabulary One Stop Shop

The recently published Ofsted Research review series: English includes multiple references to vocabulary. As educators who have been writing about and training on vocabulary for many years, this is extremely welcome. Very Punny Vocabulary

In their book Developing Reading Comprehension, Clarke, Truelove, Hulme and Snowling refer to the Poor Comprehender Profile. Amongst the characteristics indicative of poor comprehenders difficulties with figurative language. You probably recognise these children; the ones that take words at face value and who struggle to understand jokes.
